Layton Secondary Water & Conservation
Pressurized irrigation water & watering rules
Many Layton properties use secondary (pressurized irrigation) water for outdoor landscaping, separate from culinary drinking water. Layton City Secondary Water customers include those formerly served by the Davis & Weber Counties Canal Company within the city.
Watering Rules
- No outdoor landscape watering between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Follow Utah’s Weekly Lawn Watering Guide for how often to water
- The irrigation season start date is set each spring (commonly mid-May) — don’t run sprinklers before it opens
- In dry years the city may ask residents to cut outdoor water use (e.g., by 20%)
Save Water & Money
- Water-conservation rebates through Utah Water Savers
- Waterwise plant ideas from Conservation Garden Park
- Programs and classes from the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District
