Fruit Heights History
Named for its orchards • Incorporated 1939
Fruit Heights takes its name literally — early settlers grew famous cherry, peach, and apple orchards on this bench above Kaysville. The town incorporated in 1939, when (as local lore has it) the birth of a baby girl finally pushed the population to the required 100 residents.
Worth Knowing
- The Pony Express connection: Historic Mountain Road through town served Pony Express riders and stagecoach mail carriers
- Still a small town: about 6,000 residents on the east bench
- Veterans Memorial: three stones at City Hall honor every veteran who has ever lived in Fruit Heights
