Tucked into Layton Commons Park beside the Kenley Amphitheater, the Heritage Museum of Layton is a free, family-friendly museum that tells the story of the city and its surrounding communities — from Native American heritage and pioneer settlement to the rise of Layton’s neighborhoods, farms, and businesses. With rotating exhibits, hands-on activities, and a restored pioneer cabin, it’s an easy and worthwhile stop for visitors of all ages.

Exhibits
The museum runs a rotating schedule of exhibits, so there’s usually something new to see. Recent and featured exhibits have included:
- America250: Toys Through Time — a look at play across the decades
- Seasonal shows like the Stars & Stripes Quilt Show and Winter Wonderland
- Local-history features on Layton businesses, Verdeland Park, and area pioneers

The Joseph Hill Pioneer Cabin
A highlight of the museum is the historic Joseph Hill Pioneer Cabin. Free guided cabin tours are available on request — just stop by or call ahead to schedule one. During the city’s Pioneer Day Jubilee each July 24th, the cabin anchors a morning of old-fashioned games and crafts.

Support & Get Involved
The museum welcomes artifact donations and community stories, and periodically seeks volunteer Museum Board members. Donations and inquiries go through the Parks & Recreation office at 801-336-3930.
