Your Fun Guide to Pioneer Day 2026 in Davis County
Pioneer Day is Utah’s homegrown holiday — July 24, the day the first pioneers rolled into the Salt Lake Valley back in 1847 — and around here we throw it a party worthy of the Fourth. Think parades, rodeos, cowboy bands, and yes, pie. This year the 24th is a Friday, with some of the best local events spilling into Saturday the 25th. Bountiful Handcart Days — the county’s main event
Two days, all celebration. On Friday, July 24, Bountiful City Park (400 N 200 West) has park activities from 5–9 p.m. and a concert at 8. Then Saturday, July 25 brings the big finish: the Handcart Days parade at 9 a.m., park fun from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., and a fireworks show at 10 p.m., launched from behind Mueller Park Junior High with viewing all around the neighborhood. Layton’s Electric Light Parade — save this for after dark
Layton goes all day on July 24 and saves the best for last. Pioneer games and cabin tours at the Heritage Museum Jubilee (10 a.m.–1 p.m.), Surf ‘n Swim open till 6:45, food trucks in Layton Commons Park from 5:30 p.m., and the Grammy-winning cowboy band Riders in the Sky at the Kenley Amphitheater 7–9 p.m. (free). The showstopper is the Electric Light Parade at 10 p.m. — floats decked out in lights gliding down Wasatch Drive to Constitution Circle, where a Party Zone keeps the night going with a DJ. Days of ’47 — the big show, 20 minutes south
Want the marquee experience? The Days of ’47 Parade — one of the largest in the country — steps off Friday, July 24 at 9 a.m. in downtown Salt Lake, running from South Temple and State east toward Liberty Park (daysof47.com). Pair it with the Days of ’47 Rodeo (July 21–25 at the Utah State Fairpark), and cap the night with a drone show planned for around 10 p.m. at Liberty Park.
