Clearfield’s 2200 South Is Closed Into Fall — Here’s the Detour Near Antelope Elementary

If your drive or your kid’s walk to school runs along 2200 South in Clearfield, plan on the detour sticking around for a while. Clearfield City has the road closed while crews rebuild it from the utilities up, and the work is expected to run into fall 2026.

What crews are doing

  • Replacing the sewer main
  • Replacing the water main
  • Updating curb and gutter
  • Sidewalk improvements
  • New asphalt

That is essentially a full street reconstruction rather than a resurfacing, which is why it takes months instead of weeks. Replacing a sewer main means opening the street to depth, and the water main, curb, gutter, and sidewalk work all has to be sequenced around it before new asphalt can go down.

The school-year wrinkle

Antelope Elementary sits near the closure, and the city specifically flagged the timing as the school year got underway. Parents doing drop-off and pickup should expect heavier traffic on the detour route, and families whose students walk should walk the route once before relying on it — sidewalk access shifts as crews move through the work.

Clearfield City has posted the recommended detour route with a map on its project update page. Residents with questions about the project can reach Clearfield City Customer Service at 801-525-2700.

A note on timing

Completion dates on utility projects can move. Weather, what crews find once the street is open, and material availability all matter. Clearfield City sets the schedule and can change it at any time, so check the city’s page or call customer service before making plans that depend on the road reopening.
