South Weber Council Adopts Stark/Dahl Rezone Near 7600 South
The South Weber City Council has adopted Ordinance 2026-08, rezoning about 5.9 acres near 1675 East 7650 South from Agricultural (A) to Residential Moderate Density (R-M). The signed ordinance posted by the city shows it was passed and adopted on Sept. 8, 2026. The applicant is Symphony Homes/Symphony Development.
What the Planning Commission heard
The Planning Commission held a public hearing on the request Aug. 19. According to the commission’s approved minutes, city staff described a concept for 12 single-family lots, about two homes per acre, with the southern portion of the property not being rezoned or developed at this time. Staff said the project would connect 7600 South and create an east-west link in the southern part of the city.
Several neighbors spoke. Their concerns included the narrow width of 7600 South when cars park on both sides, gaps in sidewalks, children walking to a bus stop and school, fire-truck access, secondary water capacity, stormwater and an existing power line. Staff said many of those details would be reviewed during the subdivision process, that the city could double-check the road with the fire department, and that sidewalk gaps near 1780 East could become a higher priority for a future city project.
Commissioners noted that R-M zoning could allow more than the 12 lots shown in the concept plan. The commission voted 4-0 to recommend approval with a condition limiting the rezone to 12 lots or fewer.
What we don’t know yet
The portion of the ordinance text we reviewed does not show whether the council carried forward the 12-lot condition, and council minutes from Sept. 8 have not been posted yet. We will update this story when they are. A rezone is only the first step. Any subdivision plat still has to go through the city’s review process.
Why it matters
Residents along 7600 South who want a say in road design, sidewalks and drainage will have more chances when subdivision plans come forward. Watch the Planning Commission agendas and public notices for future hearings.
