Bountiful Accepts South Davis Greenway Study but Holds Its Support Letter Until a Council Resolution
The Bountiful City Council accepted the South Davis Greenway feasibility study at its Oct. 27 meeting, but accepting the study does not commit the city to build anything. According to the meeting recording, the letter of support for the Utah Trail Network will not go out until the council passes a separate resolution outlining its concerns.
What did Bountiful decide about the greenway?
After a long discussion of parking, maintenance costs, liability and funding for the regional greenway, a motion to accept the final feasibility report passed on a voice vote; no individual votes were recorded in the meeting record we reviewed. The motion also directs staff to prepare a resolution outlining the council’s concerns, along with a short letter to the Utah Trail Network. Council members said the letter would be sent only after the council passes that resolution, which is its own vote. The meeting record did not set a date for that vote, and the council’s next meeting had not been posted when we checked. The city’s formal position on future phases is still open. For background on the regional plan, see our reports on the South Davis Greenway proposal and North Salt Lake’s acceptance of the study.
Other Oct. 27 actions
- Stormwater program (Resolution 2026-17). The council amended the city’s stormwater program to match the state’s renewed five-year discharge permit. Construction sites that pass two straight inspections get relief from routine oversight until final inspection or a complaint.
- Davis Boulevard Bridge license. The council approved a 25-year license agreement, renewable for another 25, with the Bureau of Reclamation for the bridge over Barton Creek. The current agreement expires in May 2027.
- Payments. The council approved about $1.85 million in expenditures over $1,000, including roughly $750,000 for the quarterly South Davis Metro Fire and EMS assessment.
Approved minutes were not yet posted when this was written, and we will update the story when they are. See the Oct. 27 agenda. Agendas and notices are linked on our Bountiful page, with documents on the city’s agenda and minutes page. More stories are in DCU News.
