North Salt Lake City Council record: South Davis Greenway feasibility study accepted

The council’s Aug. 18 work session accepted a four-city feasibility study for a separated walking-and-biking path along the east side of south Davis County.

The North Salt Lake City Council’s Aug. 18, 2026 work-session agenda lists “Presentation and Consideration of Accepting the Results of the South Davis Greenway Feasibility Study.” The presentation posted with the notice describes a “dedicated, paved shared use path designed to support walking, biking, and rolling,” “physically separated from motor vehicle traffic,” at a total length of 10.8 miles with 1.6 miles inside North Salt Lake. The study lists North Salt Lake, Bountiful, Centerville and Farmington as participating cities. Funding sources named in the presentation are the Utah Trail Network, UDOT TTIF First Mile/Last Mile, UDOT TIF Active Transportation, Davis County Prop 1 and federal grants. The presentation states that “acceptance helps position the project for funding.” The council voted 5–0 to accept the study. In the recorded session, staff described the North Salt Lake segment as a 12-foot path with a park strip, and said fitting it within the existing right-of-way along Orchard Drive would remove both shoulder areas that are currently striped bike lanes, leaving no on-street parking on either side while keeping travel-lane widths unchanged.
