Bountiful Council Vacates Boulevard Right-of-Way, Sells Surplus Parcel for $140,000
The Bountiful City Council acted on two linked items on Boulevard land at its October 13 meeting: vacating a strip of public right-of-way on the south side of Bountiful Boulevard near 1300 East, and selling a small surplus parcel for $140,000.
What the agenda lists
The city’s published public hearing notice describes a petition to vacate about 10,251 square feet of public right-of-way that the city says is excess and no longer needed for street purposes. The notice was posted September 29. See the notice on the Utah Public Notice Website.
The council’s October 13 agenda lists a public hearing on the vacation, followed by two resolutions. Resolution 2026-15 would authorize the vacation of the right-of-way. Resolution 2026-16 would authorize a purchase and sale contract for an approximately 0.235-acre parcel, with Keller Family Properties, LLC as the buyer at a total price of $140,000.
What happened at the meeting
City records indexed by OpenUtah show the council approved the vacation and the sale, and describe the purpose as making room for new residential lots while widening sidewalks and extending the local trail network. Formal meeting minutes and the vote tally had not been posted on the city’s agenda page when this was written, so the vote count is not reported here. We will update this story when the minutes are available.
Why it matters
Surplus right-of-way sales are one way cities turn unused public land into housing lots and put the proceeds back into the city budget. Neighbors near Bountiful Boulevard may see construction activity as the parcel is developed. The agenda does not say when building could start, how many homes are planned, or what conditions come with the sale.
