“Blithe Spirit” Runs Oct. 14–24 at Hopebox Theatre in Kaysville

Noel Coward’s comedy Blithe Spirit comes to Hopebox Theatre in Kaysville for a dinner theater run Oct. 14–24, and Farmington City is helping put the word out to south Davis residents.

The city posted the show to its news page on Sept. 2, billing it as a joint promotion with the theatre and noting that tickets are already on sale. Farmington regularly points residents toward performing arts happening elsewhere in the county when its own stage is dark.

About the play

Blithe Spirit is Coward’s 1941 farce about a novelist who invites a medium to his home to research a book, and ends up hosting the ghost of his first wife. It is a standard of community theatre — a small cast, one drawing room and a lot of doors — and it lands squarely in the run-up to Halloween without being a scary show.

About the venue

Hopebox Theatre sits at 1700 S. Frontage Road in Kaysville. The box office line is 801-451-5259, with phone hours Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings, and in-person hours before curtain on show nights.

The theatre is not a typical playhouse. Hopebox Theatre states its mission as bringing hope to families battling cancer through the performing arts, and for each production it names a Wall of Hope recipient — a community member in cancer treatment — who receives donations collected during the run along with a portion of ticket sales.
