Bountiful Is Putting Park Pavilion Reservations Online — No More Lining Up at City Hall in January
For decades, claiming a Bountiful park pavilion for a family reunion or a summer birthday has meant one thing: showing up at City Hall in person on the first business day of January, in the cold, and hoping the date you wanted was still open when you reached the front of the line.
That is on its way out. At its Sept. 8 regular session, the Bountiful City Council approved the purchase of a new Tyler Technologies recreation package that will let residents reserve pavilions and fields online.
What the council actually decided
Staff brought two finalists to the council: Tyler Technologies and CivicPlus. Both could handle the feature the city cared most about — splitting a day into morning and afternoon blocks, so a pavilion no longer has to be booked for a full day when a family only needs a few hours. A cheaper option built into the city’s existing website software was set aside because it could not do half-day bookings. The council went with Tyler.
One resident made the case for the change during public comment better than any staff report could. He told the council he had stood on the front steps of City Hall every January 1 for more than 25 years to reserve a bowery, and that he has been booking Centerville’s pavilions online for the last four years. Being able to see availability a week ahead, he said, would be a real improvement.
When can you use it?
The city has not announced a public launch date, and reservation windows, fees and rules are set by Bountiful City and can change at any time. Confirm current details on the official Bountiful City website before you plan around a date.

The council approved an additional $43,300 for engineering services tied to UDOT’s I-15 reconstruction project — bringing that contract to roughly $207,000 — and accepted a low bid for transmission steel poles for the same project. Staff told the council the poles will not arrive until October 2027, later than hoped, and that UDOT is comfortable with the timing. Council members also approved cleanup of power poles damaged on the Echo Line, a switchgear and power pole purchase for the city’s power department, and a retaining wall contract at Maple Ridge.
Bountiful also recognized Lakeview Hospital’s 50th anniversary that night.
