This Week in Sunset: Trash & Recycling Day, Landfill Voucher Deadline, Council Preview (Sept. 28–Oct. 4)

It is a quieter week on the Sunset City calendar, but there are still a few dates worth knowing, from which bins go out Monday to a closing deadline for the city’s yard-waste landfill voucher. Here is what the city has posted for Sept. 28 through Oct. 4, plus a look at the days just after.

Monday, Sept. 28: Trash and recycling pickup

The city calendar lists Monday, Sept. 28, as a Trash & Recycling Day, so put both cans out this week. The following Monday, Oct. 5, is listed as a trash-only day, which means recycling does not go out that week. The city posts its 2026 recycling calendar on the event pages if you want to plan ahead.

Landfill voucher window is closing

Sunset’s Davis Landfill Voucher Program runs March 15 through Oct. 15. Each household can pick up one voucher a year at the City Offices, 200 W. 1300 N., and the city covers the landfill charge for a load of green waste from your yard. If fall cleanup is on your list, this week is a good time to grab one.
