Centerville Fall Festival Returns Oct. 12, Plus Whit After Dark Mystery Night Oct. 23
Centerville has two free-to-enjoy fall traditions coming up in October: a pumpkin-carving Fall Festival in Smith Park and a timed mystery game inside the Whitaker Museum. Here is what the city has posted about each.
Fall Festival: Monday, Oct. 12
The Centerville Youth Council and the Whitaker Museum are hosting the annual Centerville Fall Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, at Smith Park, 300 N. 100 E. The city says it is free to attend and participate.
- Pumpkin carving contest: Drop off a pre-carved pumpkin between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., or carve one on site starting at 6 p.m.
- Prizes: The city will award prizes to the top 10 carved, decorated or painted pumpkins.
- Also on hand: Crafts and Banbury Cross pumpkin donuts.
The city credits donations from Rocky Mountain Power and Pack Farms for the pumpkins available at the festival. It also asks that anyone who takes a pumpkin at the event stay and carve it there, since the pumpkins are meant for festival use, not general pickup.
Whit After Dark: Friday, Oct. 23
The Whitaker Museum’s annual Whit After Dark goes Revolutionary this year to mark America’s 250th. Called “Treason After Dark,” it is a timed, mystery-solving game set in 1776, where teams have 30 minutes to decode a message and escape before being caught.
- Pre-registration is required through the city’s online registration catalog.
- One person signs up per group and picks a time slot, with a maximum of six players per slot.
- It is billed as a family activity, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The museum is at 168 N. Main St. The city has not listed a registration fee on the event page, so check the catalog for current details.
