Two New CTE Buildings Open at Bountiful and Clearfield High as the School Year Begins
Students walking into Bountiful High and Clearfield High this fall found something new waiting for them: a dedicated Career and Technical Education building at each school. Both campuses held ribbon cuttings in August, capping off construction projects that Davis County voters paid for when they approved the Davis School District’s 2022 “Building Generations” bond.
What Clearfield High students get
Clearfield’s new building pulls 15 CTE programs under one roof — agriculture, automotive, business, CNA, composites, computer science, culinary arts, digital media, engineering, family and consumer sciences, health sciences, photography, video production, welding, and woodworking construction. Until now those programs were scattered across the campus. Consolidating them means shared equipment, easier scheduling, and space that was actually designed for hands-on work rather than retrofitted for it.
The district says the goal is to connect what happens in the classroom to what happens after graduation, whether that is a certificate, an apprenticeship, a four-year degree, or a job. Speakers at the August 14 ribbon cutting included Principal TJ Barker, Board Member Kristen Hogan, district CTE Director Brian Hunt, and Superintendent Dr. Dan Linford.
What Bountiful High students get
Bountiful High celebrated its own new CTE building days later. The district describes it as giving students more room for hands-on experience and career-ready skills tied to high-demand fields. Principal Brock Jackman, CTE Director Brian Hunt, Superintendent Linford, and Board Member Joani Stevens spoke at the August 19 ceremony.
Why it matters for Davis County families
CTE is one of the few parts of a high school schedule where a student can walk out with a credential in hand. For families weighing junior high boundaries or deciding whether a student should stay at their home school, a purpose-built CTE facility is a real factor — and it is now part of the pitch at two of the county’s larger high schools.
These projects are part of a broader building push across the district. The Board of Education toured several CTE construction and remodeling sites in late July, and Still Water Elementary opened earlier this summer.
