West Bountiful Winter Parking Rules: No Overnight Street Parking Nov. 15 to April 1
Winter is still a few weeks off, but West Bountiful’s overnight parking rules kick in on a set date every year, and they apply to every city street. Here is a plain-language rundown of what the city has published, so nobody wakes up to a warning on the windshield.
No overnight street parking Nov. 15 to April 1
From November 15 through April 1, parking on West Bountiful streets is not allowed between midnight and 7 a.m. The city says the rule keeps roads clear so snowplows can work efficiently. The requirement is in city code section 10.12.090, according to a city newsletter, and the full code is posted on the West Bountiful municipal code site.
Holiday exceptions
The city’s Winter 2025 newsletter lists these exceptions to the overnight ban:
- Two days before, the day of, and two days after Thanksgiving
- Two days before, the day of, and two days after Christmas
- New Year’s Eve
When it snows, move the car
Separate from the overnight rule, the city asks residents to get vehicles off the street whenever snow is falling or plowing is underway. City code also bars parking on a street with visible snow that has not been plowed since the snow fell. Even before plows arrive, parked cars can block key routes.
Warnings, then towing
According to the police department’s note in the Winter 2025 newsletter, officers who spot a violation will leave a warning on the vehicle, and the owner then has 24 hours to comply. Vehicles still in violation after that may be towed at the owner’s expense.
Other winter reminders from the city
- Clear sidewalks within 24 hours of each snowfall.
- Keep snow from your property on your property, not in the street.
- Bring garbage cans in right after pickup so they don’t get in the plows’ way.
- Trim trees and shrubs so plows can get through.
These are small steps, but on narrow residential streets they make a real difference in how quickly plows can open roads after a storm.
