Bountiful Fall Cleanup Week Runs Oct. 5–9, With Free Landfill Days and an Oct. 10 Hazardous Waste Drop-Off

Bountiful residents get their fall chance to clear out garages, sheds and yards next week. The city’s annual Fall Cleanup Week runs Monday, Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, with free landfill drop-off for residents through Saturday, Oct. 10, and a one-day Household Hazardous Waste collection that Saturday morning.

Curbside pickup, Oct. 5–9

City crews collect cleanup items from residential sanitation customers on each home’s regular garbage day during the week. The city’s guidelines:

• Have items out by 7 a.m. on your regular pickup day, on the driveway approach or park strip, not in the street or on the sidewalk.
• Don’t put items out more than a week ahead of your pickup day.
• Bag, box or bundle loose trash. No single item may weigh more than 50 pounds.
• Cut limbs and branches to under 5 feet and tie them in bundles.
• Set metal items apart; a separate crew collects metal for recycling.
• Different trucks handle different materials, so your pile may be picked up in stages over the week.

Construction materials (concrete and anything that was attached to a house or building), hazardous waste, tires and propane tanks are not picked up at the curb.

Free landfill drop-off, Oct. 5–10

The Bountiful City Landfill waives fees for Bountiful residents on household garbage, lawn clippings, leaves and tree limbs from Oct. 5 through Oct. 10. Proof of residency is required. The landfill is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and customers need to arrive by 5:30 p.m. Loads must be covered and secured, and every load is inspected.

Construction waste, contaminated green waste and dirt still carry standard fees. Tires, hazardous waste and propane tanks are not accepted at the landfill at all.

Household Hazardous Waste Day, Saturday, Oct. 10

The city collects household hazardous waste free of charge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Bountiful City maintenance facility (City Shops), 950 South 200 West. The event is for Bountiful residents only, and the city discourages lining up early.

Accepted items include old paint, paint thinner and lacquers, antifreeze, waste motor oil, batteries, degreasers and car-care products, weed killers, insecticides and rodent poison, drain, oven and toilet-bowl cleaners, floor waxes, furniture polish, and similar household chemicals. The city will not take ammunition, explosives, DEA-controlled medications or radioactive materials, and may refuse anything it doesn’t consider appropriate for the program.
