Woods Cross Awards $4.2 Million Contract to Replace 1500 South Water Tank
Woods Cross has hired a contractor to replace its water tank on 1500 South. At a special meeting on Aug. 6, the City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2026-1011, awarding the job to Patriot Construction for $4,217,641.34, according to the approved minutes of that meeting.
Bigger tank is the goal
The minutes say the project is part of the city’s planned water project bond, whose parameters the council set in August 2025, and is included in the fiscal year 2026-27 budget. Earlier this summer, on July 7, the council directed staff to move $400,000 from the 1100 West waterline project and a $500,000 contingency to the tank replacement. The aim, in the council’s words recorded in the minutes, was to “maximize the tank volume toward the desired 1.5 million gallons.”
Water storage tanks help a city keep steady pressure and a reserve supply for daily use and firefighting. The minutes do not include a construction start date or timeline.
Other water work underway
In a July 21 public works report, the city described the 1500 South reservoir project as in its final stages and noted ongoing work on Well No. 3. The same report noted a jump in water line leaks this summer, which the public works director tied to soil temperatures, soil conditions and hot weather affecting the city’s older lines.
City Hall design talks continue
After the contract vote, the Aug. 6 meeting turned into a work session with the project architect, Method Studio, and Hogan Construction on the size and shape of the planned new City Hall. The minutes record the discussion but no decisions.
