Thursday, Nov. 12, is the busy day in Kaysville next week, with a countywide emergency exercise you can join from home and a Planning Commission meeting that includes a public hearing. Here is what the city has posted for Nov. 9 through Nov. 15.

On the calendar

Chess Night in Kaysville — Monday, Nov. 9, 6 p.m. Listed at the library at 215 N. Fairfield Rd. Open the event page for details and any cost.

Business Supporting Business Meeting — Tuesday, Nov. 10, 8–9 a.m. Held at the DTC Business Resource Center, 450 Simmons Way. The city’s listing does not give a cost.

Bad Moon Rising Community Challenge — Thursday, Nov. 12, 7–8 p.m. This is a countywide emergency preparedness exercise run by Davis County Emergency Management. Residents of 15 Davis County cities are invited to practice reporting simulated neighborhood damage, such as after an earthquake or windstorm, using the county’s new online damage assessment tool. You take part from home or your neighborhood. Sign up through the form on the city’s event page, watch for a text with a link on Nov. 12, then submit a photo and short report between 7 and 8 p.m. The city with the highest participation earns the title “Best Prepared City 2026.” Questions go to Davis County Emergency Management at 801-451-4108.

Meetings

Planning Commission, Thursday, Nov. 12, 7 p.m. The commission’s meeting is listed on the city calendar. The city has also posted a public hearing notice for the same evening, at 23 E. Center St., on a proposal to apply a PRUD overlay zone to the property at about 400 North 500 East (Parcel No. 11-110-0104). The notice does not explain what the overlay would allow and does not describe a way to comment, so check the posted agenda or call the city at 801-546-1235. A hearing is not a decision, and we will report on any action once the city posts it.

Agendas and meeting notices are linked on our Kaysville page.

Around town

Veterans Day closure, Wednesday, Nov. 11. City offices are closed all day. The city says garbage collection will not be delayed.

Dates and times are set by Kaysville City and can change. Confirm on the city’s website before you go.
