Free Community Sewing Class: Week 4- Circle Skirt Construction

In this hands-on class, students will learn how to create a beautiful custom-fit circle skirt from start to finish. Whether you’re brand new to garment sewing or looking to expand your skills, this class will guide you through the process of measuring, cutting, constructing, and finishing a skirt you’ll be proud to wear. Students will choose from one of three waistband options based on their skill level and preferred style: Elastic Waist Circle Skirt – A beginner-friendly option featuring a comfortable elastic waistband and simplified construction. Traditional Waistband Circle Skirt – A classic garment-sewing approach with a fitted waistband, zipper, and button closure. Hybrid Waistband Circle Skirt – Combines the comfort of an elastic back waistband with the polished appearance of a traditional fitted waistband. Throughout the class, students will learn: How to take accurate body measurements Understanding circle skirt sizing and fit Fabric selection and yardage considerations Grainline, drape, and fabric preparation Pattern layout and cutting techniques Seam construction and finishing methods Waistband construction based on the selected option Installing a zipper and button closure (Traditional Waistband Option) Hemming techniques for curved hems Pressing and finishing for a professional appearance By the end of the 5 week series, each student will complete a custom circle skirt and gain foundational garment sewing skills that can be applied to future projects.
